Zhaodai wugong bian 昭代武功編 "Military campaigns of the Splendid Dynasty" is a military history of the Ming dynasty 明 (1368-1644) written by Fan Jingwen 范景文 (1587-1644), courtesy name Mengzhang 夢章 or Zhigong 質公, style Siren 思仁. He was a high minister at the court. When the rebel Li Zicheng 李自成 (1606-1645) entered the capital Beijing and ended the Ming dynasty, Fan Jingwen drown himself in a well. He has authored the books Dachenpu 大臣譜, Shilü 師律 and Nanzhu zhi 南樞志. His collected works are included in the Fan Wenzhenggong wenji 范文貞公文集.
The 10-juan long Zhaodai wugong bian begins with the campaign of Zhu Yuanzhang 朱元璋 (Emperor Taizu 明太祖 r. 1368-1398), founder of the Ming dynasty, against Chen Youliang 陳友諒 (1320-1363) and reaches down to Li Hualong's 李化龍 (1554-1611) expedition against the rebel Yang Yinglong 楊應龍 during the Wanli reign-period 萬曆 (1573-1619). The book was printed during the Chongzhen reign-period 崇禎 (1628-1644). Large parts of it are identical to that of the official dynastic history Mingshi 明史, respectively the official chronicles the Ming history was based upon.
