There were four books of the title Xixiashu 西夏書, three of which are lost. All of them deal with the history of the Western Xia dynasty 西夏 (1038-1227).

Qin Enfu's 秦恩復 20-juan long book was, according to the scholar Zhang Shu 張澍 (1776-1847), based on books like Dongdu shilüe 東都事略 or Songshi 宋史, the official dynastic history of the Song dynasty 宋 (960-1279). It is recorded in the bibliographical chapter of the local gazetteer Yangzhou fu zhi 揚州府志, but seems never to have been finished.

Wang Yun's 王曇 4-juan short book was, according to Deng Yanlin's 鄧衍林 (1908-1980) book catalogue Zhongguo bianjiang tuji lu 中國邊疆圖籍錄, based on the Nanxian yizheng jian 南獻遺征箋.

The youngest of the four texts, Xu Song's 徐松 (1781-1848) version, is mentioned in Han Taihua's essay 韓泰華 Wushiweifuzhai suibi 無事為福齋隨筆, where it is said that it was of high scholarly quality and even better than Wu Guangcheng's 吳廣成 Xixia shushi 西夏書事. No copy of that book has even come to light.

The only surviving one the book of Zhou Chun 周春 (1729-1815), courtesy name Tunfen 芚兮, style Song'ai 松靄 or Shuju Jushi 黍谷居士. The book of 15 juan (according to some catalogues, 10- or 11-juan long) is divided into five parts, namely imperial annals (shiji 世紀), biographies of persons form other states (zaiji 載記), a chronicle (nianpu 年譜), treatises on statecraft (kao 考), and biographies (liezhuan 列傳). A fragmentary copy is kept by the library of Peking University 北京大學圖書館. The book is listed in the bibliographic chapters of the statecraft encyclopaedia Qingchao xu wenxian tongkao 清朝續文獻通考 and the official dynastic history Qingshigao 清史稿.
