Xingxue dacheng 星學大成 "Great compendium of star studies" is a book on astrology written during the Ming period 明 (1368-1644) by Wan Minying 萬民英 (1523-1603), courtesy name Zicai 子才 or Ruhao 汝豪, style Yuwu, from Daning 大寧 (today's Pingxian 平泉, Hebei). He was first investigating censor (jiancha yushi 監察御史) of the route of Henan 河南道 and later right assistant administration commissioner (buzhengsi you canyi 布政司右參議) of Fujian. Apart from the Xingyue dacheng, Wan also published the books Sanming huitong 三命會通, Xinzi xinjing 相字心經 and published commentaries on the "Book of Changes" Yijing huijie 易經會解.
His book of 30 juan length assembles quotations from eight older texts on the discipline of "star studies" (xingxue 星學). These are Xingyao tuli 星曜圖例, Guanxing jieyao gongdu zhuyong shi'er wei lun 觀星節要宮度主用十二位論, Zhujia xianli qintang xushi 諸家限例琴堂虛實, Yelü bijue 耶律祕訣, Xiancheng wangdou sanchen tongzai 仙城望斗三辰通載, Zonggui zifu zhencang xingjing zazhu 總龜紫府珍藏星經雜著, Biyu zhenjing Deng Shiqiao ao 碧玉真經鄧史喬拗, and Guangyu yuanwei xingyao geju 光矞淵微星曜格局.
This collection of writings on astrology assembles basic guidelines as well as intricate details of the discipline. Wan Yingmin provides annotations and critiques that are thorough but largely adhere to old traditions, failing to correct some inaccuracies in older writings. Although the book is somewhat chaotic and absurd, it manages to gather diverse viewpoints and presents foundational knowledge from various practitioners that has not been widely disseminated. It aligns well with Wan's book Sanming huitong and can served as a reference for the techniques of master Zhang Guolao 張果老 (c. 680-c. 750).
The book is included in the series Siku quanshu 四庫全書.
