Wenshi 文釋 "Explanations to texts" was written during the Southern Dynasties period 南朝 (420-589) by Jiang Sui 江邃, courtesy name Xuanyuan 玄遠, from Jiyang 濟陽 (today's Lankao 蘭考, Henan). He served the Liu-Song dynasty 劉宋 (420-479) as an erudite in the National University (taixue boshi 太學博士), then as director in the Ministry of Sacrifices (cibu lang 祠部郎), concurrently Cavalier Attendant-in-ordinary (sanji changshi 散騎常侍), and then as a secretarial aide of the Grand Minister of Education (situ jishi canjun 司徒記室參軍). Jiang was famous for his scholarship and his work in semantic explanations of texts.

His book Wenshi with a length of 10 juan is lost, but four fragments have survived as quotations in other books. They are found, with annotations, in Ma Guohan's 馬國翰 (1794-1857) series Yuhan shanfang jiyi shu 玉函山房輯佚書.
