Kaogu zhiyi 考古質疑 "Substantial doubts by investigating texts from antiquity" is a "brush-notes"-style (biji 筆記) examination of various classical texts. The book of 6 juan length was compiled during the Song period 宋 (960-1279) by Ye Daqing 葉大慶 (jinshi degree 1205), courtesy name Rongfu 榮甫, who was a famous poet and educational instructor (zhouxue jiaoshou 州學教授) in Jianzhou 建州 (modern Nanping 南平, Fujian).

The Kaogu zhiyi explains Ya Daqing's own view of a large amount of books from ancient times to the early Song period. It touches points not to be found by commentators or other writers, and quotes from earlier commentaries by criticizing them. Ye Daqing saw his book as a kind of supplement to Cheng Dachang's 程大昌 (1123-1195) Kaogubian 考古編, yet without reaching the latter's quality.

The Kaogu zhiyi is to be found in the series Siku quanshu 四庫全書, Wuyingdian juzhenban shu 武英殿聚珍版書, Haishanxianguan congshu 海山仙館叢書, Xiaoyuan congshu 嘯園叢書, Qingfentang congshu 清芬堂叢書 and Fang zhibuzuzhai congshu 仿知不足齋叢書. In 1985 the Shanghai Guji Press 上海古籍出版社 published a modern print in a joint edition with the book Yongyou xianping 甕牖閑評, with annotations by Li Weiguo 李偉國. Chen Datong's 陳大同 critical edition Kaogu zhiyi jiaozheng 考古質疑校證 was published in 1989 by the Guangdong Gaodeng Jiaoyu Press 廣東高等教育出版社.
