The Bamianfeng 八面鋒 "Eight-Sided Vanguard", also called Yongjia bamianfeng 永嘉八面鋒, is an encylopedia from the Southern Song period 南宋 (1127-1279) compiled by an unknown author. The preface, dating from the Hongzhi reign 弘治 (1488-1505), speaks of a Master Yongjia 永嘉先生. Some sources erroneously attribute authorship to Chen Fuliang 陳傅良. The 13 juan "scrolls" long book is divided into 88 chapters which are dealt with in a question-and-answer principle. It was probably compiled as a handbook for the preparation of the state examinations, as a loose collection without the intention to publish it as a book.
The Bamianfeng is included in the collectanea Huhailou congshu 湖海樓叢書 and Siku quanshu 四庫全書. There is a print by Du Mu 都穆 from the Ming period 明 (1368-1644).
