Risunzhai biji 日損齋筆記 "Brush notes of the Studio of Sun's Decrease" is a collection of notes compiled during the Yuan period 元 (1279-1368) by Huang Jin 黃溍 (1277-1357), courtesy name Jinqing 晉卿 or Wenqing 文卿, posthumous title Wenxiangong 黃文獻公, from Wuyi 義烏 in the prefecture of Wuzhou 婺州 in today's Zhejiang. Huang obtained in 1315 the grade of a jinshi and first served as a vice magistrate (xiancheng 縣丞) of Ninghai 寧海 in the prefecture of Taizhou 臺州, and later as calligraphy provisioner (yingfeng wenzi 應奉文字) in the Hanlin Academy (Hanlinyuan 翰林院), drafter (zhizhigao 知制誥) in the Imperial Secretariat, junior compiler in the Historiography Institute (guoshiyuan bianxiuguan 國史院編修官), auxiliary academician (Hanlin zhi xueshi 翰林直學士), and then academician expositor-in-waiting of the Hanlin Academy (Hanlin shijiang xueshi 翰林侍講學士). His collected writings are called Huang Jinhua ji 黃金華集.
His book of just one fascicle collated the texts of ancient writings of all genres and points out their strengths and weaknesses. Huang also mentions some additional facts not mentioned in these writings. The original text was not thematically structured, but Liu Gang 劉剛 rearranged the articles into three chapters, namely the Classics, historiography, and miscellaneous writings, with a total number of 35 articles.
The preface, dated 1354, was written by the historian Song Lian 宋濂 (1310-1381). This edition is enriched by some texts on the person of Huang Jin. During the Qing period, Chen Xijin 陳熙晉 (1791-1851) made some critical notes on Huang Jin's book.
The text is included in the series Jinhua congshu 金華叢書, Siku quanshu 四庫全書, Mohai jinhu 墨海金壺, Shoushange congshu 守山閣叢書 and Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編.
