Xiao shisanjing 小十三經 "Thirteen classics of elementary learning" is a collection of thirteen small books assembled by the Ming-period 明 (1368-1644) scholar Gu Xuanwei 顧玄緯 (mid-16th cent.), courtesy name Qijing 起經.
The collection includes texs of Confucian content, a Buddhist writings, a treatise on military tactics, a book on agriculture, several astrological texts, writings on geomancy, Daoist texts, and two books on sporting activities.
The collection is seen as a counterpart to the great Thirteen Confucian Classics, but geared to the needs of daily life. In a wider sense, it can be seen as part of the genre of elementary learning (mengxue 蒙學).
These books were printed as a series during the Jiajing reign-period 嘉靖 (1522-1566).
