Jiaoshan guding kao 焦山古鼎考 is a research on an ancient bronze vessel. Older editions name Wang Shilu 王士祿 (1626-1673) as the person who transcribed the original inscription, and Lin Ji 林佶 (1660-1723) as the author of supplementary notes, but the actual author of the study was Zhang Chao 張潮 (b. 1650), courtesy name Shanlai 山來, style Xinzhai 心齋, from Shexian 歙縣, Anhui.

Zhang was a clerk (kongmu 孔目) at the Hanlin Academy 翰林院 and a good writer of lyric metre-poetry (ci 詞). Zhang also published a collection of stories, Yuchu xinzhi 虞初新志, and the series Zhaodai congshu 昭代叢書 and Tanji conshu 檀几叢書. His collected writings are called Xinzhai liaofu ji 心齋聊復集 and Huaying ci 花影詞. Zhang also wrote a literary critique called Youmengying 幽夢影.

The original tripod of Mt. Jiaoshan no longer exists - only its inscription has survived. The reproduction of the inscription is based on a calligraphy of Cheng Sui 程邃 (1607-1692), the transcription on Yu Changsheng 余生長, and the additional notes on Xu Qiu 徐釚 (1636-1709, Hongting 虹亭).

The text can be found in the series Zhaodai congshu. The preface is dated 1773.
