Songchuang baishuo 松窗百說 „A hundred tales from Pine Window“ is a collection of stories and notes written during the Song period by Li Jike 李季可 (dates unknown). This book selects relevant entries from the classics, historical records, and legends, accompanied by the author’s own commentary and textual verification. It holds certain reference value for the study of historical matters. For example, in the entry titled “Historical Errors, 史誤” the Qing-period scholar Sun Yirang praised it as “sufficient to help correct the history of the Five Dynasties.” Additionally, some entries such as “King Wen Did Not Govern the Shang 文王不領商政,” “Kongming Fulfilled His Duty as a Minister, 孔明盡臣道” “You Ruo Resembles Confuciu有若似孔子s,” and “Cao Cao’s Declaration Was Deceptive魏武宣言欺人” all represent statements aligned with the so-called “civilizing” rhetoric of feudal orthodoxy. The book also strongly condemns the harms caused by consuming metallic and mineral-based medicinal substances. The book highlights both factual clarifications (e.g., the entry “Historical Errors” [史誤] praised by Qing scholar Sun Yirang for correcting errors in Five Dynasties History). • Critiques Confucian orthodoxy, as seen in entries like: o “King Wen Did Not Rule the Shang Government” o “Kongming Fulfilled His Duty as a Minister” o “You Ruo Resembles Confucius” o “Cao Cao's Declaration of Deception” Exposes superstitions or harmful practices, such as the dangers of consuming alchemical substances (金石藥物 — metallic/mineral elixirs common in Daoist immortality practices). It is included in the series Zhibuzuzhai congshu 知不足齋叢書.
