The surviving parts of the book deal with types of persons and ways of conduct and self-perception. The text is of interest because it quotes from several texts that are long lost, like Cai Yan biezhuan 蔡琰別傳, Yulin 語林, Jinchao 晉抄, Guzhuan 古傳, Tongxianji 同賢記 or Diwang shiji 帝王世紀.
The fragments can be found in the series Guyi congshu 古逸叢書 and Congshu jicheng chubian 叢書集成初編.
